Annual Palos Hills Beautification Contest 2015

Alderman Marty Kleefisch, the Beautification Committee and the Community Resource/Parks & Recreation Department want to inform all residents that we will once again conduct our Annual Beautification Awards Contest in 2015. The contest is open to all single family residences, businesses, multiple family residences, churches and schools. Over the past years, we have had many positive comments made about this friendly competition, which encourages everyone to put their gardening and decorating talents to good use.

The period for judging in 2015 will begin in early July and will extend throughout the month (exact dates TBA).  This is a period when lawns should be reaching their peak of green and many flowers and shrubs will be in full bloom.

Applications to compete in the contest will be available in the Summer Palos Happenings Newsletter, or you may pick one up at the Community Center 8455 W. 103rd St, or City Hall 10335 S. Roberts Road. In early June, applications will also be available on our website on a link below. Volunteer judges will include all properties that have completed a contest application. Due to time constraints, the judges will focus solely on front and side yards.

Our judges will be rating properties in these categories:

  1. General appearance of buildings, fencing and edging
  2. Overall landscaping
    1. Lawns
    2. Shrubs, evergreens and trees
    3. Color accents

So, it’s time to think about sprucing up your property and selecting your annuals to try to capture the admiring attention of our wonderful volunteer judges while you do your part to add to the overall beauty of our attractive City and enhance the quality of life for everyone in Palos Hills.

Winners will receive winning notification and an invitation by mail in late August inviting them to attend the awards presentation at City Hall during the month of September 2015

By entering the Palos Hills Beautification Contest applicants are allowing their names and addresses to be published in any publications regarding the contest.

"Good Luck to All"
