Carbon Monoxide Detectors: State law requires homeowners, landlords, and building owners to install carbon monoxide detectors within 15 feet of rooms used for sleeping. This law applies only to those occupancies that use fossil fuel to cook, heat, or produce hot water, or occupancies that are connected to an enclosed garage. The symptoms of CO poisoning include: dizziness, nausea, headache and coughing, irregular heartbeat, and pale skin with cherry red lips and ear tips. Snow: If 2 or more inches of snow is on the ground, no vehicle can be parked on the street. Please do not shovel snow into the street. Consider shoveling your sidewalks because children, as well as adults, must walk in the street if the sidewalks are not cleared.

Maintenance: Please consider having your furnaces and fireplaces checked and serviced. Also check to see if your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are properly working. Change furnace filters monthly. Change smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector batteries. Have a professional clean your chimney.

Update Phone Info: Many people are using a cell phone. as their primary phone and have eliminated the land line. It would be very helpful if the information was updated in the event the city or we need to contact you. Please call Margareth Morales at city hall, who is with the water department with your current info. (598-3400 extension 1106).

Water Main Breaks: If you donʼt have running water in your residence, check all of your faucets. Water main breaks can occur anytime, but are more likely during the cold weather. Call 911 after City Hall hours to report any breaks.

Water Leaks: Check your usage on the bill. If it is unusually high, that could indicate a leak, running toilet, or broken pipe.

Water Pressure: After a water main break is repaired, and you realize that you donʼt have running water, check all faucets and shower heads and remove the screens and check for sediment. After the system is flushed, these screens can become clogged and water will not flow.

Shop Palos Hills: Please continue to support local businesses who always strive to succeed.

Elections: On April 2, Cook County will hold municipal elections. Please make sure you are registered to vote. Aldermen in each ward will be elected.

Thank You
