Biography

Alderman Abed, a resident of the Fourth Ward of Palos Hills, IL for 22 years, was appointed to the fulfill the vacancy left by Alderman Moore. He has resided in the City of Palos Hills with Laura, his wife of 30 years, and his daughter, Alexandria, who graduated with her MBA from Saint Xavier University in May 2020.

Alderman Abed recently retired from Walgreens after 30 years of management. He has volunteered to be responsible for leading and supervising a team of
individuals involved in making various fund raisers successful, including Diabetes walks, Colon Cancer walks, and events with the American Heart Association. For 20 years, he helped put together and worked the Walgreens annual Senior Citizen Valentine’s Day event for couples married for 50+ years.

Alderman Abed has worked to be an active community member including working with underprivileged children in the East and West sides of Chicago. During holidays such as Christmas and Easter, he had the honor to be involved in the collection and donation of toys, gift bags and free photos for underprivileged families.

Phil Abed graduated from Roosevelt University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. His recreational activities include being a referee for soccer and volleyball of all age groups and enjoying golfing and watching other sports.
